Privacy policy

Ferry doesn’t collect your data. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising, and it never sends your photos or anything about you to us or to anyone else.

Who we are

Ferry is made by Chad Apps, an independent developer based in Australia. “We” and “us” in this policy mean Chad Apps. If you have a question about your privacy, email hello@ferryphoto.com.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no servers of its own to send data to. It talks only to your camera, over Bluetooth, the camera’s own Wi-Fi network or a USB-C cable, and that connection never leaves the space between your camera and your phone.

What the app keeps on your iPhone

To do its job, the app stores a few things on your phone. None of it is sent to us.

Your paired camera
Its name, model and serial number, so the app can find it again and tell your cameras apart.
The camera’s Wi-Fi password
Kept in the iOS Keychain, encrypted by iOS, and used only to join your camera’s network.
Import history
The file name, capture time and size of each photo you’ve imported, so the same photo is never imported twice.
Your photos
The RAW, HEIF and JPEG files you import, kept in the app’s own library until you delete them.
Your settings
Choices such as the import size you prefer.
A diagnostic log
Connection and transfer events, used to fix problems. It stays on your phone and is never sent automatically.

Like any app data, these may be included in your iPhone backups, depending on your iCloud or computer backup settings. Deleting the app deletes all of it. To remove just the camera and its Wi-Fi password, use Forget camera in the app’s settings.

Permissions the app asks for

You can change any of these in the iPhone Settings app at any time.

Purchases

Pro and Pro for life are bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your name, card or Apple Account details. The app only learns whether Pro is unlocked. Apple’s own privacy policy covers the purchase itself.

Crash reports

If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These don’t identify you, and you can turn them off under Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Children

The app isn’t directed at children. Because it collects no personal data, it collects none from children either.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the Australian Privacy Act and the GDPR let you ask what personal data we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted. We hold none from the app. If you email us, we keep your message only as long as we need it to help you, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts collecting data, we’ll update this page and the App Store privacy details before that version is released, and change the date at the top.
