Connecting

The app can’t find my camera

  1. Make sure the camera is on and within a few metres of your phone.
  2. If the camera has gone to sleep, half-press the shutter to wake it.
  3. Check that Bluetooth is on in Control Centre, and allowed for the app in Settings.
  4. On the camera, open Menu › Network › Connect to smart device and make sure it’s turned on.

It says “Paired to another phone”

The camera can only remember one phone at a time. On the camera, open Menu › Network › Connect to smart device and pair again from the app.

It says “Check the Wi-Fi password”

The app needs the password your camera uses for its own Wi-Fi network. You’ll find it on the camera under Menu › Network › Wi-Fi connection settings › Password. If you’ve changed it, enter the new one when the app asks.

My iPhone asks to join a network

That’s expected the first time. Photos travel over the camera’s own Wi-Fi, and iOS asks your permission before joining it. Tap Join, and it won’t ask again for that camera.

It connected before, but not now

  1. Turn the camera off and on again, then open the app.
  2. If that doesn’t help, use Forget camera in the app’s settings and pair again. Your imported photos stay.

Importing

A transfer paused

Transfers keep running with your phone locked, but iOS can pause them, for example if the camera goes out of range or switches off. Open the app with the camera nearby and the import carries on from where it stopped, without starting the file again.

Some photos weren’t imported

Photos you’ve already imported are skipped on purpose, so you never end up with duplicates. The app imports stills only, so videos aren’t brought across.

Getting RAW files into Lightroom

Open a photo, tap Share and choose Lightroom. You can also save RAW files to the Files app, and save the HEIF or JPEG to Photos.

Using a cable instead

Connect the camera to your iPhone with a USB-C cable and turn the camera on. The same library and import button appear, with no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi needed.

Cameras

Ferry supports the Nikon ZR. More Nikon Z bodies are coming, each tested on the real camera first. Email us to tell us which camera you shoot and we’ll let you know when it’s supported.

Pro and purchases

Restoring Pro on a new phone

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the app’s settings and tap Restore purchases.

Cancelling Pro

Open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Ferry. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you keep every photo you’ve imported.

Refunds

Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
